Profile

The South London Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) is a new partnership across South London that will drive lasting improvements in patient care by sharing innovations across the health system and capitalising on teaching and research strengths.

The creation of Academic Health Science Networks were announced in December 2011 in the government’sInnovation, Health and Wealth report, as a way to ‘align education, clinical research, informatics, innovation, training and education and healthcare delivery’ at a local level.

In October 2012, the South London Academic Health Science Network (AHSN) submitted a bid to the Department of Health to develop a new partnership across South London.

King's Health Partners, working closely with St George's NHS Healthcare Trust, local authorities, general practice and academic institutions in South London, has developed the bid and is leading the design of the AHSN.
